Johan Frijns is ENT-consultant and professor of Otology and Auditory Physics, director of the Center for Audiology and Hearing Implants and of the Otolaryngology Residency Program at LUMC. He earned his MSc (hons, 1983) in Applied Physics at Delft University of Technology, his MD (hons, 1988) and his PhD (hons, 1995) at Leiden University. His research interests include (neuro-)otology and audiology, especially cochlear implants (computational modelling, speech coding, incl. artificial intelligence, imaging, electrode design, socio-emotional development of deaf and hard of hearing children). He has published over 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, (H-index 35 (WoS), Google Scholar index 44) and supervised over 20 PhD theses.
